The cool thing about Cloud Farmer is that it was designed by farmers, for farmers - not for benefit and vested interest of the company behind it! So we understand your challenges because it's likely we've had the same ones. Cloud Farmer is a cloud based software system that you can use on your computer, tablet or smartphone meaning that it doesn't matter if you get hit by a fire, a flood or just a very angry staff member - your information can never be lost. Here at AgRecord, we embrace the ethos of maximising the benefits of the Cloud so we can continue to live and work remotely. So although sometimes we're all in the office together, more often than not we're based in different corners of NZ. And hence the reason we can run a multinational company from Porangahau!
Gretchen and Leyton purchased AgRecord in August 2013 with the purpose of developing it into a global supplier of on farm communication systems between farm staff and management. Cloud Farmer was Gretchen's inception and today she is still the driving force behind the company, although with the arrival of baby Georgia in March 2016 and baby Hetty in October 2017 she now has a bit of a juggle on her hands. Gretchen has a background in marketing and business development, and has extensive experience in the Agri Industry having worked in a wide variety of roles ranging from shepherding in the South Island High Country, through to importing NZ lamb into Northern Europe, marketing wine, and working as a farm recruitment consultant.
Accounts & Admin
An ex Aucklander, Paula moved to the Hawke's Bay in 2014 with her husband and daughter, taking on a neglected house and lifestyle block south of Waipukurau. With an extensive background in accounts and administration, Paula is also a bit of a whizz with farm accounts these days. As well as keeping us on the straight and narrow she also has a special appreciation of how Cloud Farmer makes farmer's admin much simpler. She's also the one to speak to about anything accounts related
Louise looks after our customer support and level one tech issues. That basically means that she regularly touches base with our clients to see how they're getting on and suggests ways for our them to further utilise Cloud Farmer. Yip, we just love making a difference to farmers lives and that doesn't stop once you 'buy' our product. She's also the first port of call for anything technical. Often it’s something small and she can fix it there and then. If it’s something to do with our software she’ll escalate it to our technical team. Louise personifies our ideal AgRecord team member. The glass is always half-full, nothing is ever an issue, and she and her man Geoff manage a big farm an hour inland from Blenheim, where all their team also use Cloud Farmer, so she totally gets it! (well I wonder if she sometimes raises an eyebrow at us North Islanders, but we're slowly educating her to our quirks!)
Director & Head Guinea Pig
Leyton runs a progressive sheep and beef operation near Porangahau, Central Hawke's Bay. Leyton is a typical farmer in that he's super busy, his staff are based at the opposite side of the farm, and he's keen to make use of technology but until AgRecord he'd had limited experience with it. He embraced his role of Head Guinea Pig so much that he's now joined the sales team on a part time basis and there's a good chance you'll see him spinning a yarn at trade shows or extolling the benefits of Cloud Farmer at a discussion day.
"It's never too late to learn" or so the saying goes. The opportunity to have all Peter's farm information in one place that couldn't be lost was a light bulb moment in 2015. Two sons joining the beef farming business, an equity partnership, dairy farms and an aging brain required better systems than used previously. The simplicity and adaptability of AgRecord to Peter's needs are what caught his eye. The phrase "I liked the product so much I bought into the company", comes to mind. With his extensive business interests Peter's greatest strength is the breadth of his networks within the Agri industry.
